54th annual sloop homecoming sails through Rockland

Rockland — The Friendship Sloop Society held its 54th annual homecoming events beginning July 12.

The sloops started with a race in Southwest Harbor then held a rendezvous in Pulpit Harbor before cruising into Rockland Harbor July 16.

Races were held daily July 17-19 off the Rockland Breakwater, and a parade was held July 19.

The sloops will depart Rockland for their respective homeports Sunday, July 20.
