Patty Eddy's background in architecture gives her a design sense second to none, and the imagination and insight to help clients sift through appearances.

"I can walk into a house and it might have the worst wallpaper and the worst rugs, and I can help clients get through the initial shock, and see if there's more to it. I also can help them decide if it's going to be more expensive in the long run because of underlying problems."

Patty's low-key, organized and detail-oriented, but best of all, she's cheerful and creative. She has a knack for really listening to clients, and helping them think outside the box.

She tells the story of a couple who were very particular about the kind of house they were looking for, and that it be on the ocean. When it wasn't coming together, she helped them reevaluate. They were avid sailors, and were going to spend a lot of time out on the water anyway, so she found them a perfect house in Rockport Village, just two blocks from their mooring.

"It felt good to get them something they're just crazy about," she says. "They're so happy, and someday, when they've stopped sailing and really need to be near the water, I know we'll find that waterfront home."

Patty came to Camden Real Estate having known Scott Horty for years and she likes the team approach he cultivates. "We all like each other, we all share ideas, and there's a really positive energy. Scott's smart. He's forward thinking and he wants to go places. I want to be on that train."

After following her husband, Robby, a master yacht model builder, from Boston to Maine in 1984, Patty can't believe her good fortune. "I'm a skier and I love the outdoors. It's very vibrant here... it's a great community. There're all different kinds of people. Our friends do all sorts of different work, and they're all different ages. If I had stayed in Boston, I'm not sure my life would be as diverse as it is now. That's the glory of this place."
