2012 Ride in Memory of Fred 'Razor' Merritt
Fred "Razor" Merritt was born October 25, 1951 in Camden, Maine. Fred was in a car accident on December 9, 2011 and passed away from the injuries he sustained on February 7, 2012 surrounded by his family and friends.
Fred was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish, snowmobile, and especially riding his motorcycle. He got the bike that he always wanted, a Harley Davidson "Fat Boy", less than a year before he passed away. He always said the bike was just like him, big and loud! He loved to go on charity rides, foliage rides, or any ride in general.
Fred also loved to shoot pool with his son, Chris, and his friends. He was in the A.P.A League for both 8 and 9 ball.
Fred was always willing to lend a helping hand and never asked for anything in return. He had a contagious smile and laugh.
He was very proud to be the Commander of the American Legion Post #1 in Rockland.
Another love that he had was for his wife, Christine Merritt. They were married 29 years and had renewed their wedding vows at a 60th surprise birthday party for him.
The fact that people have been doing events to honor him says a lot about his character. He was loved by everyone that knew him. He touched many lives and helped many people.
