The Market Basket has a long history of providing fresh and healthy food to the Midcoast area, in which the newest owners, (from Sept 2007), Larry & Lynette Platt continue to carry out that mission. The Market Basket started out by selling produce and fish. Added to the list was freshly-made sandwiches and salads, as well as soups and desserts.

French bread was the only choice for fresh-baked bread and desserts were limited to cookies and frozen cakes. There are a few recipes we continue making today, including hummus and French bread. The store has always sold wine and a few grocery items. Fast forward to 2008--we now have added hundreds of diverse quality products and services!

Our prepared foods are the engine of The Market Basket and everything is made fresh on the premises: Soups, Sandwiches, Salads, Entrees, Breads, Desserts, Pastries, Snacks, Sauces and Dips just to name a few! We have many services available such as: from Catering Office or Home Holiday Parties to Wedding Receptions...we do it all! If you do not feel like cooking tonight?
