Harvest Festival: Bargains, good food on an autumn Saturday

The Harvest Festival committee at Nativity Lutheran Church is busy organizing for Saturday, October 15th.  Local people have moved, down-sized, and inherited great quantities of household goods, sets of dishes, indoor and outdoor furniture, baby and children's toys, sporting equipment, books, LP records – a long list, and have donated their surplus to offer to the general community at low, low prices.  This year's Tag Sale promises to surpass all previous Harvest Festival sales. Half of the proceeds will benefit the Area Interfaith Outreach (AIO) Food Pantry and Hospitality House.

New this year, a Silent Auction will feature hard to find collectibles, like discontinued and recently appraised matted and framed Wyeth prints "Northern Point" and "Her Room," 1960s Hummel figurines, and a large selection of Avon Cape Cod tableware. Don’t miss the handmade crafts, a great way to start your Christmas shopping. There will also be a bake sale and children's events for all ages that will involve crafts, face painting, and games. While shopping for great bargains, don’t forget to stop at Nativity’s canteen featuring soups, hot sandwiches, and homemade pies.

The hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, at Nativity Lutheran Church on Old County Road on the Rockport-Rockland line, about a mile from the Rte. 1 intersection at Glen Cove.  The Silent Auction will close at 1:00 p.m. At 12:30, all prices for the Tag Sale, located in the basement of the church, will be dropped 50% -- incredible bargains.  www.nativitylutheran.net
