Mid-Coast School of Technology Students Compete at Maine SkillsUSA Competition
Thirty-six MCST students participated in the Maine SkillsUSA competition at United Technologies Center in Bangor on March 10 & 11 and nine students were awarded medals. Those students receiving medals were Mike Root, Gold, in Post-secondary Firefighting; Rose Benner & Kimberly Reed, Silver, in Promotional Bulletin Board; Derek Drechsler, Silver, in Carpentry; Tyler Emerson-Dare, Silver, in Culinary Arts; Lillian Goff, Silver, in Chapter Display; Ben Pollis & Cody Mudgett, Silver, in Video Product; and Will Watson, Bronze, in Post-secondary Firefighting. Everyone did a great job representing his or her programs and Mid-Coast School of Technology.
The SkillsUSA Maine Championships is the state-level competition for high school and college students enrolled in trade, technical, and skilled service instructional programs including allied health occupations. Students are given a task they have to accomplish in a limited amount of time. More than 700 students were at UTC to compete in more than 60 different challenges.
