Late Tuesday night, fifteen chihuahuas (& chihuahua mixes) , dressed in little sweaters, arrived safely at the Humane Society of Knox County in Thomaston, all the way from Los Angeles, California, for a chance at loving adoptive homes in mid-coast Maine. Los Angeles Animal Services receives over 300 chihuahuas a month, which far exceeds the demand for them.  In response to their chihuahua overpopulation problem, and in collaboration with HSKC, the "Many Happy Returns" program was established to give these dogs a second chance.  As a resuslt, in May of this year, thirteen chihuahuas got their wings and flew into the hearts and homes of families up and down the Maine coast .  "We have a demand for chihuahua's here in Maine but don't usually have them coming into the shelter with any regularity", said Tracy Sala, Executive Director of HSKC.  "It was a win/win.
