Rockbound would like you to meet Jacob Post, a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology. He has a degree in Computer Engineering Technology. He has certificates in Voice Networks  and Data Networks. He has over 20 years experience in the computer field. Jacob has been custom building computers for Rockbound since he started here 11 years ago. He has built and designed computer for homeowners, businesses, marine & industrial applications.

Jacob is equally proficient whether it is a Apple, Windows or Linux computer.

Jacob is a member of Rockland Rotary. Jacob, in his spare time, enjoys rock climbing, photography, cross country skiing, hiking, bicycling, home renovation and computers.

In addition to visiting customers and helping them with their computer networks, Jacob also helps out in the office, choosing the best components to meet customers needs for marine computers, servers, and workstations.

Rockbound is happy to repair a computer from any manufacturer. There is no snobbery regarding whether your computer is from a mass-market source or is custom built. We are happy to help you with any type of computer.

Having built thousands of computers, we have observed that a seemingly minor choice can make a huge difference in performance or reliability.

One overlooked aspect is hard drive choice. Hard drives vary greatly in quality and Jacob has started building servers and important computers with solid-state hard drives. These drives are extremely fast and have no moving parts for better reliability. Normal hard drives have increased in price and solid state has decreased, making this a popular option for new computers and upgrades.

There is also a green aspect to custom computers. Many times, mass market computers use case parts or panels that do not allow efficient upgrade or repair. A common failure might mean either ordering expensive parts from the manufacturer or junking the computer. Custom computers use a common case design and any and all parts can be quickly and easily replaced. For example, Rockbound supplies parts for the servers at Midcoast Internet Solutions in Rockland. They have computer cases that are fifteen years old and replace the innards every couple of years. This produces very little waste and allows them to meet changing computing needs.

Jacob's computer and people skills at Rockbound will help you or your business make the most from your computers.
