Auburn Company Drives Growth With Expansion Into Commercial Awnings.
Sales at NuImage Awnings of Maine grew 30 percent in 2011 thanks to the acquisition of the Blackfoot Awning Co. last summer.
NuImage Awnings, of Auburn, Maine, has sold and manufactured fixed and retractable awnings and canopies for more than 25 years.
With the acquisition Blackfoot Awning Company, NuImage now has a complete steel and aluminum fabrication shop as well as a custom sewing facility. In addition to manufacturing awnings, the company also offers picnic tables, custom railings, powder coating and handles wide-format digital printing for signage.
"This expansion made sense for us because it allowed us to add experienced staff, an existing product line, and just seemed like a natural fit," said Brian Buteau, president of NuImage Awnings. "Combined with our manufacturing capabilities and new technology, we are able to offer a better product both for the home and business."
Blackfoot Awning, which was based in Lewiston, Maine, specialized in commercial awnings, won several awards and was featured in national publications such as Fine HomeBuilding and Country Journal. Former Blackfoot owner John "Si" Prout, who has 18 years of experience in the awnings industry, remains with NuImage to lead the fabric process for commercial awnings.
In addition to its manufacturing facility, NuImage Awnings also has a 4,000-square-foot showroom, with products on display, at 101 Merrow Road, Auburn. The company serves all of Maine, New Hampshire and Northeast Massachusetts offering free home visits to provide site evaluations and estimates.
