Union — Celebrating 20 years of Volunteerism
Thompson Community Center

Board members, volunteers and friends of the Thompson Community Center in Union began their 20 year celebration with a float in the Thomaston 4th of July Parade. “Twenty Years of Volunteers” is the theme for the summer long celebration. A mini replica of the Thompson Memorial building was the center piece of the float. Free balloons, candy and ice pops for parade watchers were given out by volunteers. Kids and adults alike had a great time.

We also passed the “bucket” so to speak to kick off our fundraiser for our septic system project which we have dubbed the “flush fund.” Many thanks to the generous parade watchers who gave us almost $50 for our Flush Fund.

Immediately after the parade the group began planning improvements in preparation for our next parade. Look for us at Union Founder’s Day, The Maine Lobster Festival parade and the Union Fair parade. Don’t forget to look for the buckets with the toilet seats on top for donations.

We’d like to thank our sponsors
Union Agway for the beautiful plants,
Sterling Ambulance for their trailer,
Harbor Builders Associates for building the replica,
Lowe’s donated materials,
Mini Me Rentals and Kathy’s Salon & Day Spa for decorations
Down to Earth for the truck to pull the float,
Schofields for the carpet.

A fun time for a good cause. Be sure to check our website for lots of exciting new programs starting this Fall.
